At the urging of his wife, the poor woodcutter leaves his children deep in the forest. While wandering through the woods, the abandoned children come across the witch's house. She captures them and intends to eat them. Although hopeless, the children do not loos their spirit, and they use the moment of the witch's carelessness to save themselves.
